Have you ever participated in a reading challenge? Last summer I did Booktubeathon, and it was really fun. I read 7 books in 7 days and participated in some Instagram photo challenges. It was so fun to see what other people were reading, where they were reading, and even what they were snacking on.
Spending all of April writing a novel put me a little behind on my reading. I missed my monthly goal by one book and I’m one book behind on where I need to be for the year according to Goodreads. It occurred to me that a read-a-thon would be the perfect way to get back on track and maybe even a little ahead!
Probably the biggest impact on my reading life will be summer vacation. The kids are going to be home all summer, I know there will be significantly less reading time. Getting ahead now will help me feel less guilty about how much I read over summer vacation.
My friend and reading buddy Ana (Librariana) loves read-a-thons and has a handy list of the different ones that take place throughout the year. I saw a few for May and decided the Bout of Books would be the best one for me.
Here is the link to the Bout of Books site, and the details:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 19 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
You don’t have to have a reading goal to participate, any amount of reading counts towards the read-a-thon. I consider a read-a-thon, a challenge so I intend to challenge myself.
My goals are pretty simple:
- Read 7 books, one for each day of the read-a-thon.
- Read 7 books from the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge
Can you tell that I am really excited to participate in another reading challenge?!
